The new Spider-Man movie released on June 2nd, 2023. This movie will see actor Shameik Moore reprising his role as Spider-Man Miles Morales. It has been 5 years since we’ve last seen Miles Morales in “Into the Spider-Verse” and this movie looks lots of fun! The movie shows Miles Morales going through different dimensions with millions of different people, all of who carry the mantle of Spider-Man in their own universe. In one of the trailers, it shows Miles Morales getting chased by multiple Spider-Man variants; some people have speculated that since he’s from a different dimension and not from theirs, they could possibly think that he’s a bad guy so they go after them, this could be true but we won’t really know until the film’s release. According to the same trailer, this sequel will also see the return of Peter B. Parker and Gwen Stacy (Spider-Gwen). 

The backstory of Miles Morales is pretty different from Peter Parker’s; obviously, Miles Morales doesn’t have Uncle Ben but he does have Uncle Aaron, aka The Prowler. That being said, he’s no stranger to loss; in the comics, Miles’ mother dies, and in the 2018 PS4 game “Spider-Man” his dad Jefferson Davis dies. Luckily, both of his parents are alive in the “Into the Spider-verse movie,” but it does make me a little worried that something is going to happen to the both of them. 

The characters we’ve seen so far in this movie are so interesting and exciting to see. First is obviously the main trio from the first film, Miles Morales, Peter B. Parker, and Spider-Gwen. This film will also prominently feature Spider-Man 2099, which was in the end credits of “Into the Spider-verse.” We still have no answer whether Spider-Ham, Spider-Noir, or Peni Parker will return. In some of the trailers, we’ve seen more and more spider-men will be showing up. We’ve seen Spider-Man from the PS4 game, which was voiced by Yuri Lowenthal. Some are questioning whether he will voice it or it will just be the character. We’ll also see Spider-Punk, who is being played by Daniel Kaluuya. Fun fact, Spider-Punk is a playable character in the 2018 Spider-Man PS4 game. Actually, most of the characters you see are in the Spider-Man PS4 game, having most of Peter Parker’s comic outfits, and the Miles Morales PS5 game has the “Into the Spider-verse” Miles. These characters are the main ones, but some people have seen some known Spider-Man hidden in the corners of some shots. Some hidden ones are Scarlet Spider, Superior Spiderman,

Spiderman India, Black costume Spiderman, Armored Spiderman, and many more. 

The new “Across the Spider-Verse” movie shows that Miles Morales has gotten a major upgrade. In the last movie, his spider logo was spray painted on a normal Spider-Man Costume with Chicago 1’s on, occasionally wearing a hoodie over it. In this movie, he ditches the hoodie and dons an ACTUAL Spiderman costume without the Chicago 1’s and spray-painted spider logo. 

I actually think this movie is going to be really good, maybe even better than the first one. I’m excited to see what happens in this movie and what the relationship between Miles and Gwen means. Many, MANY characters are going to be in this movie so I don’t know how they’ll figure out the screen time for them.
