Friends Through the Layers

Friends are the people you care and trust: your found family. They bring you joy, make you laugh, and feel like you belong. They are the people you create memories with and the people you can be yourself around. Whether you guys are quietly enjoying each other’s company or going on a crazy escapade, time always seems to go by faster in their company. These photos document the randomness and fondness we share with each other.

  • A group of friends spend a night under the stars sleeping together on a trampoline that ended up being more snug than they originally thought. In the picture some people are trying to get their beauty rest while others are doing more hyperactive things. A friend says, “It felt like we were a human pretzel.” (Juliana Manley).

  • In the picture Ainsley Davis is trying to read a book while Liah Campbell starts her latest rant. This is one of the ongoing rituals during Journalism class. Davis tries to peacefully read with the ongoing commotion around her. Depending on the day, her friends either chose to tune in or tune out. Davis states, “I had just gotten a new book and had decided to dive in” (Juliana Manley).

  • Audrey Marshal and Lucy Gray laugh while stalking random classmates instagram posts and accounts. Gray states, “This happened directly after I told her I hated her, but, clearly, we made up.” Friends often express many emotion throughout one gathering, it’s like watching a TV show, you don’t know what’s gonna happen next. (Juliana Manley).

  • Friends cozy up on a couch during a birthday party. They try to pick a Disney movie despite the ongoing debate. “We always spend the first ten minutes trying to pick a movie that we ultimately end up talking through the entire time.” (Juliana Manley).

About the Contributor
Juliana Manley, Journalist
Hi, my name is Juliana I love writing about new upcoming topics that are important to my generation and also writing about topics that could one day impact our future. Some things that I like to do in my free time are playing tennis, baking, reading new books, and hanging out with friends. My favorite season is fall and my favorite holiday is Halloween because of how rainy and cozy it can be. I look forward to writing interesting pieces and reading other's articles. Thanks for reading!
