About
Welcome to Cavelero News, the brand-new student-led news site of Cavelero Mid-High!
Established in 2007, Cavelero Mid-High has always been committed to creating community spaces where students feel encouraged to share information, voice opinions, and express themselves. To that end, Cavelero News gives students a platform to distribute content that does so, within the guidelines of school policies and journalistic guidelines.
Through the Journalism elective, students will learn how to view the events of the world through the eyes of a journalist, and how to write about them in the most informative way possible. Through Cavelero News, these pieces of student writing will be broadcast to their peers.
Reporters will strive to abide by the CODE OF ETHICS set by the Society of Professional Journalists. These ethics include accuracy and objectivity, fair play, and mutual trust. In addition, reporters for Cavelero News will abstain from stories that are factually inaccurate; designed to mislead, deceive, or defraud; containing malicious, vindictive, or unsubstantiated attacks. Also stories will not be published that are libelous; obscene; or that would create imminent danger or disruption to school.
If you have any questions about the Journalism program, or if you have a recommendation for a subject we should be covering in our publication, please reach out to the Journalism teacher at [email protected]. Thank you!
