The AstroWorld Music festival that took place in Houston, Texas on November 5, 2021 that was held by American rapper Travis Scott had a horrible outcome. Since the event was very popular, and well known by many people. The event had an excessive amount of people attending; some were even breaking into the concert venue, passing over many barriers and many security guards. Once Travis Scott came up to perform, the people were entertained, but that certainly didn’t last. Due to the crowd having a large number of people, they couldn’t move at all and they couldn’t squeeze in. Some of the individuals were trampling others that were passed out and laid on the floor and crushing them. This event had killed 8 people when it first took place, but the death roll recently rose to 10 after two hospitalized attendees succumbed to their injuries, including a 9 year old boy named Ezra Blount. Hundreds of other people injured at the concert may still be hospitalized.

Before the concert started hundreds of people were swarming over fences freely without any Security Guards near, adding to the already excessive 50,000 people in attendance. Most of the injuries began when the gates began collapsing. And people trampled over one another trying to get inside the all-day concert. According to The Houston Chronicle, they reported that there may be three people that have suffered from leg injuries during that time. The gates have been possibly pushed down, allowing hundreds to run into the festival.

During the concert, several individuals passed out and laid on the floor. As the number of fallen attendees kept increasing, others took notice and called for help. Due to the concert having a large number of people, it became very difficult for Paramedics to travel around to get to the injured. During this chaos, most of the people were disturbed by what happened and  they were begging the security guards to stop the show and focus on the wounded. By 9 PM the show kept on going, even as the crowd shouted “Stop the show!”.

Once AstroFest ended, Travis Scott posted a video on his Instagram story stating that he was devastated and traumatized about what had happened during the Live Performance and that he never could imagine something like this happening. He also confirmed that he is willing to work with the community and support the families in need. He also mentioned that his main goal in his concert was to leave the audience with a positive experience, and that his fans meant the world to him. Despite this message, Scott  received much criticism on Twitter, where concerned citizens demanded he be held accountable for what happened. Many others were not accepting this apology and not accepting the type of behavior that he had during the Festival. Some were sharing that he wasn’t sorry until he got caught.
