The Freshman Formal is only two weeks away! The purpose of this dance is to celebrate the memories you have made during your final year attending Cavelero Mid-High. 9th-grade students, alongside classmates, friends, and possibly that special someone, will have this opportunity for one last activity before the school year ends.

This short article is meant to guide you through the basics, requirements, and questions you may have of this year’s formal dance, taking place at Cavelero Mid-High on June 2nd, 2023 from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM PST.

All information has been clarified with the 9th-grade Leadership teacher, Mrs. Sarah Hereth.

“Once Upon A Time” Theme

Many people are confused about what they should wear to the formal with this unexpected yet unique theme.
“No, you do not have to dress up as Cinderella or on-theme,” says Mrs. Hereth, the ASB and 9th-grade Leadership teacher. “Think of Homecoming. Students should dress semi-formal, but no jeans or costumes are allowed.”

Thankfully, this theme does not have to influence your attire, and will also not change the activities, music, or food overall.
The point of this theme is to provide a beautiful setting for the dance that “has not been used by Lake Stevens High School” before, which was decided by the Cavelero Leadership team as a majority vote.

Activities & Games

Unfortunately, there are no “Once Upon A Time” themed activities.

Besides dancing, the Freshman Formal this year plans to introduce a game wing, featuring board games, Mario Kart, foosball, cornhole, and “life-sized Angry Birds.” which one of the leadership students, Eastlynn Adee, specified was going to be constructed with painted cardboard boxes and green balloons to represent the pigs.

Preparation

Mrs. Hereth advises that all students should have dinner before heading to the formal.
“Although there is pizza, the food, and drinks that we’ll be serving are more like snacks, not a meal.”

She also mentioned that no food/drink item will cost more than $5, and suggests that students should bring extra cash, along with a wallet, phone, and a small bag. These items can be kept in a coat room and checked by the school’s police officer to assure nothing will be stolen.

9th-Graders ONLY

Mrs. Hereth would also like to remind all students that this formal is strictly for 9th-grade Cavelero students. No other friends from different districts or grades are allowed.
