Welcome to Derry TV Series

When we hear the words “horror story” the first thing that usually comes to mind is one of the most famous horror authors ever, Stephan King. He has written over 200 short stories and 65 novels, and is most famous for The Shining, ‘Salem’s Lot, Pet Cemetery, and IT. We have gotten a movie from each of these well-known stories but we have obtained the most from IT, getting one from 1990, 2017, and 2019. Now we have a series coming out this year 2023 and we are waiting for an exact date soon to come.

IT was very popular when it first came out in 1990, being directed by Tommy Lee Wallace who also directed multiple famous horror movies like Halloween 1978, Halloween 3, and Fright Night 2. Pennywise, the iconic killer clown himself, was played by famous actor Tim Curry, well known for his roles in a popular Christmas movie Home Alone 2, Clue, Congo, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and The Three Musketeers. The movie took place during the 1960s showing a group of seven preteen outcasts who failed to kill the child-eating clown but defeated him 27 years later when he returned.

IT Chapter One came out in 2017 directed by Andy Muschiette, who has adapted Stephen King’s horror tomes into blockbuster movies for Warner Bros. Andy is most famous for IT chapters 1 and 2, and The Flash. Pennywise was played by famous actor Bill Skarsgard who is most popular for playing IT chapters 1 and 2, John Wick Chapter 4, Barbarian, and being the voice of the Deviant Kro in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Eternals.

What we know about what the TV series is going to be about is how this freakish and horrifying clown ended up stalking the sewers of this tiny town in Maine. This is going to take place during the 1960s in the small town called Derry just like the IT created in 1990. This TV series will be directed by the same person who directed IT Part One and Two, Andy Muschiette.

We will also have an original producer from IT 2017 and 2019, Barbara Muschietti who is known for producing a well-known horror movie in 2013 named ‘Mama’ and we will also have Bill Skarsgard playing Pennywise once more.

Welcome to Derry has just begun its process in March 2023 so unfortunately we do not have a confirmed date. Welcome to Derry isn’t even a confirmed title yet, it was announced to be a working title as well as the story. The only thing that has been confirmed is that the series will be depicting the origin of Pennywise, but it is not confirmed to be taking place during the 1960s and will be streaming on HBO Max. All we can do now is keep an excited eye out for developing news.
