In November of 2022, JPEFMafia hinted that he was going to make an album in 2023. Flash forward to January 20, 2023, he officially announced he would be releasing 3 new albums in the same year. His fans were obviously excited since the last time he released an album in October of 2021 named “LP!”  but if you don’t know about him, here’s a little bit about him. Barrington DeVaughn Hendricks formerly known as “JPEGMafia,” is a rapper from Flatbush, New York. He grew up there and moved to Alabama before experiencing a lot of racism – an experience that later became a huge effect on his music. He currently has 4 studio albums and 27 singles. He started his career at the age of 15 with the stage name “Devon Hendryx ” and he released 8 mixtapes and 2 video albums, Later on at 18 he joined the United States Air Force.

Currently, JPEGMafia and Danny Brown (a collaborator) have completed 2 albums one being named “Quantara” made by Danny Brown.

JPEGMAFIA’s music is unique, this is due to him mixing genres such as vaporwave, trap, and noise rap. JPEGMAFIA stands apart from other rap artists,  he once stated that he was influenced by many artists such as MF DOOM, Ice Cube, Chief Keef, and Radiohead.

Moving on to his albums, his debut album was called “Black Ben Carson” which was released in 2016. Although it’s not as popular as some of his other pieces of work, it still has its unique tracks. Though it wasn’t TOO influential since it was his first album, it was a good start. In 2018, similar to Black Ben Carson was the release “Veteran” another album, very energetic album, this is probably his most frantic, confrontational album.

Finally, in September 2019 JPEGMAFIA’s 3rd album called “All My Heroes Are Cornballs” was released. Personally, my favorite song from the album is “Free the Frail” it’s a mixture between R&B and Rap. This was probably his most popular album in his whole discography. The average number of listeners of “All My Heroes Are Cornballs” is 201,930 listeners. In conclusion, I think if you haven’t listened to JPEGMafia you definitely should, since he will be making his return to music this year. If you are a fan already you should start getting excited about it.
