Comparing A Quiet Place Parts 1 and 2

If you’re looking for horror movies to watch during the spooky season then I might have one you’ll enjoy. A movie where silence is the key to survival, a family where the parents do everything they can to protect their children and fight back against the monsters who hunt by sound. The movies are split into two parts, but was there really a need for the second one? Original movies tend to be good, but they go out of their way to make an unnecessary follow up, which in most cases ends up being far worse than the first.  If you decide to watch both parts of this movie and enjoy them, you’ll be glad to hear that part three is coming out in 2025, plus another movie called “A Quiet Place: Day One.” which is coming out in 2024.

The first movie starts off with a confusing sense of silence; instead of starting the movie from day one, they start on day eighty-nine. The only hint they provided the viewer with was the title and seeing the characters try to be as silent as they possibly can. The film is not very heavy on gore, but it does show a few people getting eaten by the monsters. Throughout the movie, there is tension and some suspension, especially at the end. Although the movie is classified as horror, the movie was not very scary overall in my point of view. The monsters are ugly looking but not “scary” unless you were to see them in person or if it is a young kid watching the movie. The events happening in the film such as people making noise and then being eaten by the monster isn’t that graphic. But this may be different for other viewers of course.

The second part of the movie starts off on day one, a normal day where parents were watching their kids play baseball. Then they proceed to show what happened and where the monsters who hunt by noise came from. Eventually they resume where part one of the movie left off. Some parts of the film could cause the viewer to get a bit startled because there will be little to no sound and then someone makes a sound just a bit too loud, which makes a monster come out of nowhere. The second part has the characters survive more in the outside world and there is a bit more thrill involved with them running away to find shelter.

After watching both movies, both were enjoyable and interesting. Seeing the characters have to think outside the box for ways to defeat the monsters and watching to find out how they use what they have to survive is interesting. Although it would definitely be better to watch both parts of the movie to get a better understanding, I don’t think the viewer has to watch both to understand the plot. It could have been a bit more helpful to start off with day one in the first movie, but wanting to know why something is happening could definitely keep the viewer watching.
