This Season in Sports: 9th Grade Football, Cavelero vs Bothell
Recap on The First Win of The 9th Grade Football Season
November 10, 2022
With Cavelero’s 9th grade football season coming to an end, I thought that it would be good to look back on the Colts first win of the season against Bothell. ENJOY!
Defensive Lineman Keegan Brown would start the game off with a sack for the Colts, later eventing in a turnover on downs. The first drive of the game for the Colts would start off hot with Running Back Brayden Andresen getting a big gain that would be called back due to a holding call on Cav.
A big pass-down field from the Bothell QB put them in the RedZone. Bothell’s quarterback beats Keegan Brown to the pilon for the Touchdown to make it 7-0 with 3:13 left in the 1st quarter. But it didn’t take long for Cavelero to strike back. Brayden Andresen found a gap in the defense and busts it for a 40-yard run. Andresen would proceed to punch it in to complete a 3-play touchdown drive. Cav missed the 2-point conversion attempt, 7-6 Bothell late in the first.
Bothell fights their way down the field and scores on a 3-yard run to start the second quarter, 14-6 Bothell. Cav drives it down the field but gets stopped 4 plays in a row from inside the 5-yard line. The Cavelero defense would make a stop though and on 4th down Bothell’s Qb scrambles and decides to punt. The punt is muffed and recovered by Bothell. End of the half 14-6 Bothell.
Linebacker Jeremiah Khamis speaks postgame about dealing with being down early “My go-to is Humble over Hype, we got to hype, now we have to humble ourselves.”
The Colts would start the half on offense but would get nothing out of the drive. The Cav defense came out of the half swinging with Defensive Lineman Chase Mulholland and Defensive Lineman Ted Kuhrah getting to the quarterback for a sack. Brayden Andresen would get another big run of 55 yards and then would punch it in for his 2nd touchdown of the game. The 2-point conversion is good, 14-14 late in the 3rd quarter. Jeremiah Khamis jumps the route for an interception giving Cav the ball.
Andresen would once again get in the endzone this time on a 35-yard catch, 20-14 Cav. On Bothell’s following drive Linebacker Chase Fluke would catch a pick 6th on 4th down to seal the game and a Cavelero win 28-14! Upping their record to 1-2 on the year.
Brayden Andresen wins player of the game with 3 touchdowns, post-game postgame. He had this to say about his mindset entering the game: “I’m gonna beat everyone because I’m the best… I’m that guy.”
